2) Read the mark scheme for this assessment carefully. Identify at least one potential point that you missed out on for each question in the assessment.
  • Q1: Excellent analysis of the product that is detailed and critically engages with the nuanced aspects of how narrative codes are used.
  • Q2: Excellent knowledge and understanding of the influences of the social and cultural contexts on media products that is consistently supported by highly appropriate and effective reference to the set products (ONLY REALLY APPLIES TO III MANORS).
  • Q3: Consistent highly appropriate use of subject specific terminology throughout. (ESPECIALLY SINCE I DID NOT REFER BACK TO THEORIES)
3) Read this exemplar response from a previous Year 12 (an A grade) - note this was a slightly different paper in terms of the question wording and also had an additional question 4 (we've updated it to better reflect recent exams). Identify at least one potential point for questions 1-3 from this student's paper that you could have mentioned in your assessment.

4) Did you get any media terminology or theory wrong in the assessment? Make a note of it here for future revision, including theories/terminology that you could have used but didn't.

 My references to the environment for III Manors was wrong  instead of being a apocalyptic/dystopian setting it's actually urban.
Referring to the man in III Manors as a 'Hero' as well as a 'Princess@ when he is only a hero.

5) Identify your weakest question and write three bullet points that would improve on your original response. Use the mark scheme and exemplar paper to identify these points - particularly focusing on the anticipated content and the top level descriptors.

I think I have a weakness in fully grasping onto new texts in the exam under exam conditions because the difference in my confidence on writing about the Nike ad compared to III Manors is quite clear.

  Task 1: Genre factsheets 03. 1) What example is provided of why visual iconographies are so important? These iconographies usually indicate the genre of the film. For example the mise en scene of space indicates sci-fi. All these images are usually associated with something helping the audience understand the genre.  2) What examples are provided of the importance of narrative in identifying genre?
